"Harmonica: And Frank?
Snaky: Frank sent us.
Harmonica: Did you bring a horse for me?
Snaky: Well... looks like we're...
[snickers]
Snaky: ...looks like we're shy one horse.
Harmonica: You brought two too many."

This piece, like the title, was referenced from the Sergio Leone film 'Once Upon a Time in the West.' It was for a self-portrait for my digital imaging class, but because I left it to the absolute last minute and considering that I haven't drawn consistently for about 6 years, I needed to basically draw it straight from the DVD cover. Also 'Once Upon a Time' is one of my favourite movies, so I suppose it was justified in that sense for the project also. I hope that isn't frowned upon here though, is it?

I placed this in Traditional Drawings because all the line work was done with pencil and only colours altered in Photoshop. The border was added to try and give it that trademark Leone widescreen effect.

Comments are appreciated. Thank you.

Not bad. Not bad at all.

I like the simplistic style. It is interesting that the picture in itself is very 2D (ie shading and character profiles), and yet the use of perspective you have used creates much depth. The colouring is also nicely done. I may have added a more saturated tan colour to add emphasis to the Western aspect of the piece, but I guess the smudges and the brown linework of the figures emphasize this anyway.

Overall, its a nice piece. Did it for uni you say? How is it you can draw westerns as self portraits? God I wish I had your assignments!
I experimented with darker browns, but I didn't like it as much. his is coming from some one who was going to submit it lead-coloured though, so you might be right though.

Yeah, haha. Well it was part of a self-portait. The requirements were a drawing, a scan or picture of an object you own and a picture of yourself. I did a western theme because, well, I love westerns. My object was a scan of 'The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly' DVD cover and the picture was my arm. I would upload it but the copyright image stops that.

Thanks for the comment mate.
I apologise for that first sentence, by the way.
What are you apologizing for exactly?
A spelling error and two thoughs. And by first sentence I meant second sentence in the first paragraph :P

Meh.
Meh. Anyway, your drawing, I think, has inspired me to post some of my own uni work, ie life drawings & photographs...
The shading is amazing. It's really attractive. That and the color.
This is my fav killy.

just a thought tho hehe...is that driz-a-bone jackets they are wearing?

wish i could draw like that (sigh).
Ha, that's what my Dad calls them, but they're duster jackets. Sergio Leone probably dressed his gun slingers better than any other western movie. Apparently they were huge in France after the release of Once Upon a Time in the West. I wanted to wear one to Steph's post-HSC party, but alas, couldn't secure one.

Thanks for the comment Daz.
